How i can check DNS log
To check the DNS log on a Windows Server, follow these steps:
- Open the Event Viewer on the DNS server. To do this, click the Start button and select Administrative Tools, then select Event Viewer.
- In the Event Viewer, expand the “Applications and Services Logs” folder, then expand the “DNS Server” folder.
- Select the “DNS Server” folder to view the DNS log.
- To view a specific event in the DNS log, click on the event in the list. The details of the event will be displayed in the lower pane of the Event Viewer.
- To filter the DNS log to show specific events, right-click on the “DNS Server” folder and select “Filter Current Log…”. In the “Filter Current Log” dialog box, you can select specific event IDs, keywords, and other criteria to filter the log.
- To export the DNS log to a file, right-click on the “DNS Server” folder and select “Save All Events As…”. In the “Save As” dialog box, select a location to save the log file and choose a file format (e.g., CSV, XML, or EVT).
By checking the DNS log, you can view events related to DNS resolution, DNS zone updates, DNS scavenging, and other DNS-related activities on the server. This can be helpful for troubleshooting DNS issues and monitoring DNS performance and security.
