Lostprophets’ Ian Watkins stabbed in jail

Ian Watkins, a former Lostprophets singer who is currently serving a 29-year term for child sex offenses, has been attacked inside the prison.

According to The Mirror newspaper, the rock singer in trouble, who is being imprisoned in HMP Wakefield, was stabbed.

Police are looking into an incident that happened at the prison on Saturday, according to a representative for the Prison Service.

We are unable to say further until the police do their investigation, they continued.

For a number of child sex offenses, including the attempted rape of a baby, Watkins was sentenced to prison in December 2013.

Prison Officers’ Association vice-chair Dave Todd said he was worried for staff and inmates due to the increased amount of incidents they are exposed to in jails, but not wanting to comment particularly on the attack on Watkins.

Watkins was given a sentence of 29 years in jail plus six further years of supervised release; however, after completing two-thirds of his sentence, he will be eligible for parole.

His two co-defendants, the mothers of the kids he molested, received sentences of 14 and 17 years in prison.

Mr. Justice Royce stated at sentencing that the case “plunged into new depths of depravity” and “broke new ground.”

Watkins entered a not guilty plea to rape but admitted to attempted rape and sexual assault of a minor under the age of 13.

Watkins attempted to have his jail sentence reduced in 2014, but the judges denied his request.

He was a successful rock star in his 20s who drew sizable arena crowds and sold millions of CDs worldwide.

Welsh rock band Lostprophets, formed in 1997, has produced five studio albums in total, two Top 10 singles, and a UK number one album. Their second and third albums both debuted in the Top 40 in the US, where they also enjoyed moderate success.

Lostprophets’ Ian Watkins sentenced to 35 years over child sex offences

The chief investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector Peter Doyle, claimed that the inquiry turned up “the most disturbing child abuse evidence” he had ever seen in his 28 years as an officer and that the penalties represented the seriousness of the crimes.

The court’s ruling today does not signal the conclusion of our inquiries, and we will keep looking for more victims and witnesses in order to bring them to justice.

“The investigation team will now look into additional information that we have received in the last few weeks,” the statement continued.

He had already claimed that the probe was extensive because the 27 terabytes of data involved were “four or five times” as large as the databases kept by South Wales Police.

And he added that he was certain that there were additional children who had been victimized.

Watkins was the mastermind, according to Senior Crown Prosecutor Suzanne Thomas of CPS Wales, and the defendants planned to commit “appalling crimes of abuse against young and defenseless victims.”

“He is a very dangerous and cunning person who preyed on his victims in a calculated manner,” she continued.

The other two defendants took part in the most appalling mistreatment of their own children as active participants. In keeping with their admissions of guilt for these crimes, they too received penalties.

“It is unfathomable that adults would engage in such heinous acts against children and adolescents, and our thoughts continue to be with the victims and their loved ones.”
