Kerberos authentication issues fixes in emergency updates
Hello All,
Hope this post finds you in good health and spirit.
After installing the cumulative updates issued during November’s Patch Tuesday, business Windows domain controllers experienced Kerberos sign-in failures and other authentication issues.
To address this issue, Microsoft has provided optional out-of-band (OOB) patches. On Monday, the business recognised the problem and said it had begun an investigation.
It also warned that any Kerberos authentication situation within impacted enterprise settings might be impacted. Microsoft stated that these authentication issues are not an intended outcome, despite commencing to enforce security hardening for Kerberos and Netlogon with the November 2022 Patch Tuesday.
Fix released for affected Windows versions
Today, Microsoft has released OOB emergency updates that Windows admins have to install on all Domain Controllers (DCs) in affected environments. “You do not need to install any update or make any changes to other servers or client devices in your environment to resolve this issue,” Microsoft says.
“If you used any workaround or mitigation for this issue, they are no longer needed, and we recommend you remove them.” The OOB updates released today are available only via the Microsoft Update Catalog and will not be offered via Windows Update. Redmond has released cumulative updates for installation on Domain Controllers (no action needed on the client side):
